Vino Wong
You may find me snapping decadent pictures for a couple’s wedding one day and capturing Crime Scene Investigators in action the next. There is a powerful, emotional response to photographs, which is what fuels my love of this art. At heart, I am a visual storyteller with a creative approach, from urban chic to rural landscapes. I am inspired by fashion, romance, music and spirit – all of which create a visceral experience for me in the pursuit of the story I’m telling.
I was born and raised in Malaysia, and as my journey has spanned many continents, so has my pursuit of photojournalism. My calling started in 1994 while in college and my chosen path has driven me from the Midwest to Western New York and now to Atlanta where I’ve been a staff photojournalist at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution since October 2005.
Before joining the AJC, I freelanced in Western New York, and have worked for various publications, including: The Insider Magazine, Democrat & Chronicle, Greater Niagara Newspapers, Emporia Gazette, and the Salina Journal.
My love of people translates to my work. For me, nothing beats the good times shared between friends and loved ones who inspire creativity and learning from one another. I’m looking forward to embarking on the next adventure, wherever the story will take me. I love the idea of being able to get up and go, searching out new experiences that will fuel my imagination.
