Q: What is The Showcase School of Photography?A: The Showcase School is a complete program for the amateur photographer. We teach the craft and the art of photography for people using digital SLR cameras.
Q: Where is The Showcase School of Photography located?A: The school is located at 1135 Sheridan Road at the corner of Cheshire Bridge Road and Sheridan behind the CITGO gas station and across from the Regions Bank. The school is located only 2 blocks south of the intersection of I-85 and Cheshire Bridge Road. For more complete directions, check out our Directions page.
Q: When are classes offered?A: We offer 6 six-week sessions of classes a year in addition to frequent one-day workshops throughout the year.
Q: Who teaches the classes?A: The Showcase School classes are taught by professional photographers eager to share their knowledge with you. Please check out our Instructors page for more info on each teacher.
Q: How do I enroll?A: There is no formal application process. Simply choose the class you wish to take and register on-line.
Q: I have a Gift Card. How do I register for a class?A: To register with your gift card, please call us at 404.965.2205.
Q: Do I get certified?A: The Showcase School does not issue any certifications or degrees. We are a community education program.
Q: How long is your program?A: There is no formal training program at The Showcase School. Simply choose the class you wish to take and register with us online.
Q: Do you offer financial aid?A: No. Because we are an amateur program, we are able to offer affordable fun and educational classes for the general public.
Q: Where is the East Campus?A: Our East Campus building is located directly next door to our main school building at 1141 Sheridan Rd. The classrooms are on the second floor. If you are unsure which building your class is in, stop in to the main building and we will direct you to the right place. Sorry, the East Campus is not handicap accessible. Please call us if you have any questions.
Q: Where should I park when I come to class?A: Good question! There are several options for parking. The lower lot (Sheridan side) adjacent to our building is always available but does fill quickly. Other parking is available in the upper lot (DV shop), or at our East Campus building next door. Parking is also available at our store, which is located behind the Wells Fargo Bank. Q: What type of camera do I need to take a class?A: You will need a digital SLR camera – a full size camera with interchangeable lenses.
Q: Do I need to have my own camera to take a class?A: Yes. You will need a DSLR camera for class. If you don’t own one you may want to consider buying or borrowing one.
Q: Do you sell cameras?A: We do! If you are interested in purchasing a camera please visit our store located at 2323 Cheshire Bridge Rd or call 404.325.7676.
Q: Can two people share one camera in a class?A: Yes. However, you do need to register both people.
Q: I missed my class this week. Can I come to the same class at a later time/day the same week?A: Unfortunately, due to the small size of the classrooms and strict class size we are unable to accommodate those requests.
Q: Does the six-week class fee cover just one class or the whole six weeks?A: The whole six weeks.
Q: My camera is not a digital SLR but I still want to learn how to use it. What do I do?A: We can gladly connect you with one of our instructors for one on one tutoring for your point and shoot camera. Please call us at 404.965.2205 for more info.
Q: Can I make up a missed class?A: Unfortunately, due to small class sizes we are not able to offer make up classes. Should you need to miss a class, you are welcome to ask your instructors questions about your assignment and materials covered before or after the week you miss.
Q: Why take a photography class?A: Because you want to! Because it’s fun! Because it is about time you learned how to use your camera and start taking better pictures. We hope you can join us!
