Composition Class

The Composition Class is a 6-week study of the art of image-making.

This class pushes you past your knowledge of how to use your camera to a new level of great photography by educating you visually.

This class will teach you how to make the most of every image, using simple and advanced techniques in design.

Learn how to organize the elements in your scene to create more powerful photographs.  From the “rule of thirds” to using color to maximize impact, you will learn the techniques of successful composition through learning, practice and viewing examples of great photography.

This special class will include assignments and regular critiques of your work.  All subject matters will be discussed – from people photography to landscape / nature to documentary / candid to still life photography.

No matter what your favorite subject, we can help you improve your images by utilizing the elements of strong composition.

Registered students are asked to bring note-taking material to the first class.

What our students are saying“Kudos to the instructors of The Showcase School of Photography. I have taken Digital 101, 102, and Composition. Obviously, I paid attention in class, but those pictures wouldn’t have been half as good if I had not attended Showcase.” – D.C.

Prerequisite: Digital 101 or equivalent in skills with a digital SLR.
