What is photoshop?
Photoshop® is an umbrella of software programs created by Adobe Systems, Inc. – the leader in photo management software.
We at The Showcase School teach 3 of Adobe’s Photoshop® programs for photographers:
How can I choose which program is right for me?
All Photoshop® programs allow you to do basic actions on your images: crop, re-size, correct, enhance and much more.
See below the highlights of each program and choose your program based on what you want to primarily do with your images.
This is the highest level of photo-editing available. It is a subscription-based software (approx. $10/month) designed for the serious photographer and provides advanced tools for multi-layer edits primarily for single image editing. Most professionals use both Adobe Photoshop CC® and Lightroom® in combination for complete photo management through the Creative Cloud (CC) subscription-based program.
Lightroom® is a complete photo-management program known for organizing a large amount of images, providing editing tools and easy export to other programs. Lightroom® may be accessed through the Creative Cloud (CC) subscription (which includes Photoshop CC® and more for approx. $10/month).
Lighroom® may also be purchased as a single copy for approx. $149. Most professionals use both Adobe Photoshop CC® and Lightroom® in combination for complete photo management through the Creative Cloud subscription-based program.
Lightroom® is divided up in to several “modules”. Here at The Showcase School we teach Lightroom® in a measured and understandable way by modules. We suggest your first class be Lightroom®-Library and your second class Lightroom®- Develop. That will be your primary learning experience. You may also opt for Lightroom® - Workflow to learn how all modules work together.
